Catfishes are fascinating creatures. One of the most striking things about this group is its size. They make up 34% of all freshwater fish (41% of all fishes are freshwater). With almost three thousand described species so far, and another one to two thousand more believed to be awaiting description, this group provides a miniature view of the fish world as a whole.
Catfish Planet is an original creation of the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution.
